 OFFICE HOURS

We are open weekdays from 7 AM to 5 PM or later when necessary, and from 9 AM to noon on Saturdays.

Although we are available by phone, the office is usually closed between 12 and 2 PM.

Hospitalized animals are treated without regard to these hours.

EMERGENCIES

We provide emergency service to our patients whenever necessary.  If Dr. Glanzberg is unavailable there is always another veterinarian on call.

REFERRAL SERVICE

Dr. Glanzberg offers a referral service to patients whose primary veterinarian and family would like their pet to be treated homeopathically. This works very well for our clients who come a long distance as they can comfortably continue to work with their own veterinarian in concert with Dr. Glanzberg.

TELEPHONE SERVICE

Dr. Glanzberg believes strongly that he needs to see each animal at least once in order to adequately prescribe treatment. In cases where people travel long distances, he is able to consult by telephone between visits. Please do not ask us to advise you by telephone.

VACCINATION POLICIES

There is a great deal of controversy in the veterinary world today on the subject of vaccination.  Concern about overvaccination of dogs and cats has led to much discussion among practitioners and researchers. (See our article on our News page for more information on current research.)

Dr. Glanzberg has long believed that vaccinations are not simply innocuous treatments and should be given with a great deal of thought. In this office each animal is evaluated for vaccination as best fits its particular situation. However, except for rabies (which is a public health threat), we vaccinate dogs and cats in most cases every 3 years, and in some cases we suspend other vaccinations after the second year. For additional information on this subject please see the Alt Vet Med link.

NUTRITION

The best food for your pet is fresh, good quality food prepared at home. Where people have the time to do this, Dr. Glanzberg helps plan a well balanced diet for their pet. Where home cooking is not possible he can advise you about the next best alternative.

CHRONIC OR RECURRENT ILLNESS

Dr. Glanzberg uses a minimum of long term medications whenever possible. After a thorough diagnostic effort he will discuss options for treatment, such as surgery, conventional drug treatment, or homeopathic treatment. We are pleased to be able to offer the homeopathic alternative for chronic cases as it can be a safer alternative to long term drug treatments.

SURGERY

Dr. Glanzberg is experienced at most kinds of surgery but recommends it only when other methods of treatment are unavailable. Some of the more complicated orthopedic surgeries are referred to specialty surgeons.

FLEAS

Flea products are often very toxic chemicals, both to your pet and to you. In this office we strongly urge minimizing the use of these chemicals. We do not sell flea products for your animal unless there is an ongoing flea infestation. Many animals, with good nutrition and grooming, go through the entire season without a problem. When an outbreak does occur we have a non-toxic treatment for your house and will suggest the products with the lowest toxicity for your pets. Please see our Pet Care Tips page for more information on fleas.

HEARTWORM PREVENTION

In our area the incidence of heartworm disease in animals is very low. Heartworm is a disease that can spread to dogs and cats through affected mosquitoes. We see so few animals with heartworm that Dr. Glanzberg does not believe the preventative medicine is indicated. In keeping with his holistic philosophy, he does not believe in interfering with the body's natural ability to fight off disease by constantly bombarding it with unnecessary medicines. For animals that travel to heartworm prevalent areas, or those who are tied out in marshy, mosquito ridden areas, we do provide the preventative medicine.
